Ocado now stock Nutritional Yeast Flakes!

Yes, I discovered today that Ocado stock the two varieties of Marigold Engevita Yeast Flakes, original and the one with added B12. This is so useful as I will no longer have to pay postage to buy nutritional yeast, I can simply add it to my weekly Ocado shopping delivery.

Nutritional yeast is great to make sauces with, an ingredient for seitan and super on soups to name but a few uses.

The Railway Hotels Vegan Falafel yummy!

Further to my earlier post named ‘As a Vegan I have discovered The Railway Hotel, Southend-on-Sea’ I thought I would add this picture of some tasty falafel eaten at a recent visit. Unfortunately I forgot to photograph the vegan chocolate cake as could not wait to eat it!

Fresh and tasty, the Railway's Falafel

As a Vegan the Cruelty to fish at énergie fitness is disturbing.

Recently I have been horrified to discover the cruel use of fish for pedicures in Southend-on-Sea at énergie fitness! I am a great believer in treating others how I would like to be treated and for sure I can think of no greater torture than being forced to eat the dead skin of the feet of Southend’s finest! There is an interesting Guardian article here http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/may/01/fish-pedicure-health-animal-welfare?INTCMP=SRCH

What a way to be forced to exist!

The RSPCA have told the Observer newspaper “Fish are covered by the Animal Welfare  Act. They need a stable environment, with the correct water quality and temperature range. Sudden changes in temperature should be avoided as they can severely compromise welfare and even kill the animals. Water quality is of paramount importance in maintaining healthy fish. Having people bathe in the water with the fish is likely to affect quality, particularly if they are wearing any lotions or other toiletries that could leach into the water. Similarly, chemicals used to disinfect tanks and to clean patients’ feet beforehand would have to be non-toxic to the fish.”
